A Brief History of Bitola

How to Get to Bitola

There are several ways to get to Bitola from other cities in North Macedonia or abroad. The easiest and most comfortable way is to take a bus or a train that connects Bitola with Skopje, Ohrid, Prilep, Tetovo, or other major cities. The bus station and the train station are located next to each other in the center of Bitola.

The bus fare from Skopje to Bitola is about 600 denars (about 10 euros) and the ride takes about 3 hours. The train fare from Skopje to Bitola is about 300 denars (about 5 euros) and the ride takes about 4 hours. You need to buy ticket at the bus station, no option for buying online.

Another option is to drive your own car or rent one from Skopje or other cities. There are several roads that lead to Bitola from different directions, but the most common one is the A1 motorway that connects Skopje with Greece via Veles, Prilep, and Bitola. The drive from Skopje to Bitola takes about 2 hours and a half.

A third option is to fly to Ohrid Airport or Thessaloniki Airport in Greece and then take a bus or a taxi to Bitola.

Ohrid Airport is located about 70 kilometers from Bitola and has flights from several European cities such as Amsterdam, London, Vienna, Zurich, or Istanbul.
Thessaloniki Airport is located about 200 kilometers from Bitola and has flights from many international destinations such as Athens, Berlin, Brussels,Krakow, London and others.
