MacedoniaTOP is an independent travel website created by a couple from Macedonia. We help travellers plan more confident trips across North Macedonia with practical guides to cities, lakes, mountains, food, culture, events and local experiences.

North Macedonia is easy to love, but it is not always easy to research. Useful details can be scattered across different sources, transport and opening information can change, and many worthwhile places receive little coverage in English. We created MacedoniaTOP to make that planning clearer, more realistic and more useful.

Why We Created MacedoniaTOP

We want visitors to see more than a short list of famous landmarks. Skopje and Ohrid are essential starting points, but the country also rewards travellers who make time for mountain landscapes, archaeological sites, traditional food, local festivals, small towns and places that rarely appear in a standard Balkan itinerary.

Our goal is not to claim that every place is perfect or that one itinerary suits everyone. We aim to explain what makes a destination worthwhile, how much time it deserves, who it suits and what practical details could affect your visit.

Who We Are

We are a couple from Macedonia with a shared interest in travel, local culture and the stories behind the places people visit. MacedoniaTOP grew from our desire to explore the country more deeply and turn what we learn into genuinely useful guidance for other travellers.

Being from Macedonia gives us valuable local context: we understand the language, customs, geography and everyday realities that can be difficult to recognise during a short visit. At the same time, local knowledge does not make changing information permanent. Opening hours, prices, transport services, event dates and access conditions can all change, so we treat time-sensitive details carefully and encourage readers to confirm critical information before travelling.
